The Mother of Invention
The month of February has meant a lot of traveling for me. I’ve been out of town every weekend. On my birthday, which fell on a Wednesday, I drove an hour away to have dinner with some friends. This means I haven’t had as much free time as I’m accustomed to. My preference is to do things in a very laid back, carefree way; so the past few weeks have been a little stressful. But the amazing thing is I’m getting a lot of stuff done.
Out of necessity, I am finding ways to be more efficient and productive with my day. I’m more organized. Fewer things are being left until the end of the day because I know I have to attack projects right away if I’m going to meet my deadlines.
What’s really exciting to me is imagining what life is going to be like when I ride out this wave of frenzied activity. I’ve developed all these news skills and attitudes. If I manage to maintain even half of them, then I’m going to have all kinds of free time when the next lull in business hits.
Will that mean I can spend hours each day working on the web applications I’m developing? Will I start catching the occasional matinee during the week again? I can’t wait to find out.
